Peter was born in the Netherlands on July 29, 1925. In 1940 he immigrated to Canada and became a resident of Stony Plain. He loved growing huge vegetables, gorgeous trees and flowers; inventing new tools and processes to make farm life more efficient; providing veterinary care to the farm animals; fishing and reading. A natural and determined leader, Peter was instrumental in organizational development benefiting the library, museum, hospital, and schools of Stony Plain; and assisting in policy development at a national level. He and our mom loved travelling and camping, and they created many happy family memories for us.
Our family is grateful to the administration and staff at Forest Ridge, Homecare, Stony Plain Hospital and Westview Hospice for their remarkable care of our father these past years. Their kindness and compassion have meant so much to us during our long goodbye with Dad.
There will be a private family service at a future date and we invite you to make a donation in Peter’s memory to Westview Hospice, the Meridian Foundation, or the Stony Plain Pioneer Museum.
