I’m  thinking of each of you as you celebrate your Dad’s life.  I think back to the days our families spent together, your Dad bigger than life and central to all the activity. He was a good man, he and your Mom were always so welcoming! I have very fond memories of them both.

When Donald Bennett came home from the hospital, he was greeted by five sisters.  Sister Ethel with sons Bill, John and Doug, will really miss Don.  He always had a joke and stories of his interesting life to tell.

We first met Don and Jackie back in 2000 when they were looking for someone to help make their log cabin dream a reality. Little did I know at the time that this "job" would evolve into a friendship lasting  many years until their passing.  From cutting  down the first tree, to the last finishing touch, Don was insistent on being there to supervise and help any way he could. After a days work was completed there was always time to  play a game or two of crib, talk about farming and the railroad or his family who he was very proud of. I always enjoyed his conversation and being welcomed whenever visiting him and Jackie over the years. We will always remember them and happy Don can rest in peace now.

Our family has had the privilege of staying at Don & Jackie’s peace of paradise. While only for a night, we have had the opportunity to listen to Don’s stories of Jasper, the railroad and his sweet Jackie. Our boys even challenged him to a game of crib on that huge crib board! Recently, we were there for the night, I snapped this pic out by the fire. We loved seeing that little train light peak out from around the mountain. Always grateful to Don & Jackie and the whole Campbell Family for sharing this special place. May you all take comfort in knowing your mom & dad are reunited again❤️

I 1st met Don back in Sept 1986 when I started dating his son Merrick. We had a lot in common  as my dad worked for the CN and they both new each other. Don had a bark as on Sunday mornings  after partying  he would open the stairs door and yell upstairs  to indicate it was chore time. That yell scared the crap out of me. 
I spent time with Don up at Mount Robson  we would talk about the trains on the other side of the river  count the cars the trains were pulling. Talking about Red Pass. As time went on he got moved to West Country Hearth . We would bring him out to the farm so he could see the cows and in the spring the baby calves. We would talk farming on the deck , talk about my few chickens and how the rooster would attack  me. He would laugh.  I would have Willie's Roadhouse on the radio and he just loved all that old country music.  On Sunday mornings  CFCW would play old time country music and when Johnny Rodriguez  " Rose of my Heart" would come on he would turn it up as it reminded him of his wife Jackie.  He taught me lots about the farm and cows.  He holds a special place in my heart.  It's hard not to shed a tear. May you rest in peace Don. Love you. Colleen oxox
