Charlie was the first born of 9 children to Olive and Gerald Friday in Whitewood Saskatchewan, where he enjoyed life growing up on the farm south of Percival, Saskatchewan. As well as spending time at the community hall.
Charlie worked on the family farm with his father, brothers, and sisters until 1965, when he moved to Edmonton to pursue heavy duty mechanics and welding certification at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. It was at NAIT where he met his bride-to-be Patricia Paulette Podgurny. They married on July 6, 1968. They soon moved to Whitehorse, Yukon to start their life together, and adopted two children in 1973 and 1978
Charlie's professional life included many endeavors, including contract welding and mechanical services, a trucking and hauling company, gravel crushing, road building and placer mining, as well as a political career from 1985-1988.
Charlie moved to Stony Plain, Alberta with his family in 1991 where he lived and worked as a contractor until the time of his passing.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia; his children Katharine and Andrew (Susan); grandchildren Charlie Lynne, Drew Anne, Caden, Emily and Dylan; his siblings Alfred (Lois), Harold (Gene), Bob (Denny), Phillip (Pat) and Victor; 27 nieces and nephews and many more.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents Olive and Gerald Friday; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Willie Friday; sisters Janet Wilson, Geraldine (and Gordon) Wennburg, Doreen Taylor and his nephew Troy Friday.
Charlie was a devoted, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. A true friend who conducted himself with integrity and class. He will be remembered as a hardworking, kind, and selfless man who loved the company of friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Parkland Funeral Services Chapel on May 19, 2023 at 1:00PM.
