Evelyn Margaret Hove, 95, of Lilburn, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, surrounded by her family at the home of her granddaughter Amy Mathews and her husband Chad Mathews in Temple, Georgia. She lived a joyous life as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Hove was born May 17, 1917, in NYC to Rudolph and Evelyn Alberts. She was preceded in death by her dear husband Curtis Lennon Hove whom she met in Washington, D.C. where they both worked for the federal government during WWII. They moved to Atlanta in 1953 and to Toccoa in 1959 where they raised their children. She was a founder of the Stephens County Hospital Auxiliary, a president of the Camp Fire Girls Council, a Little League Mom, and an active member of Toccoa First United Methodist Church. While living in Rome, Georgia, beginning in 1973, she worked as the business administrator for the NW Georgia Department of Mental Health. After her husband’s death, she moved to Lilburn and retired from the Georgia Mental Health Department, having been the business administrator for the three counties: Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale. Her retirement years were devoted to family and church activities at Mountain Park United Methodist Church where she served in several offices in the Young at Heart Group, the Myrlene Barnes Circle, and the Wesley Class. Most recently she was a member of SAS and the Friendship Class. She was an avid bridge player and painter who donated her art for scholarship and mission fund raisers. She is survived by her step-son Curtis John Hove, daughter Nita Hallford Killebrew and her husband Russell, son Bart Hove and his wife Marsha, grandchildren Laura Cruz and her husband Sam, Amy Mathews and her husband Chad, Harrison Hove, Jordan Hove, Tiffany Hove, Drew Hove, and great-grandson, Alex Cruz. Visitation for family and friends will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Horis A. Ward Funeral Home chapel, 1355 Rockbridge Rd., Stone Mountain 30087. The Rev. Charles Robinson and the Rev. Charles Barnes will be officiating. Interment will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa, Ga. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Evelyn Hove may be made to Mountain Park United Methodist Church, 1405 Rockbridge Rd., Stone Mountain, Georgia 30087. All arrangements are under the direction of Horis A. Ward Stone Mountain Chapel.
