On Sunday, August 24, 2014 the world lost one of the greatest men to walk this planet, Ronald Patrick Sanchez at the young age of 64. His fight with cancer is over. Ron touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
Ron was born and raised in Stockton, California and graduated from Stagg High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Humphrey’s College. Ron owned a service station for 28 years but his joy belonged to his umpiring career, with an amazing accomplishment of working the championship games in every National Tournament and ISF assignment he umpired in. Ron was the quintessential model for umpires during his 25 year career and in 2006 he was inducted into the Greater San Joaquin Softball Association Hall of Fame. Ron was an active parishioner at St. Bernadette’s church and was an usher for many years.
Ron was one of four children born to the late Constancio and Rosemary Sanchez and survived by three siblings Carol Langenbach, Chick Herrera and Mark Sanchez. He was married and a devoted husband to Olivia Sanchez for 42 years. The couple was blessed with two children Christine (Pete) Vargas and Joseph (Francisca) Sanchez. He was proud to have three grandchildren Isabel, Joseph and Victoria and countless nieces and nephews.
He was a family man and did everything in his life for his wife, the family and the people he called friends. He was our inspiration and he will be dearly missed.
Rosary and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 29th at 9:30a.m. at Saint Bernadette’s Church, 2544 Plymouth Rd. Committal will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Hospice of San Joaquin 3888 Pacific Ave. Stockton, CA 95204 on his behalf.
