Robert Nicol McColl, age 76, passed away surrounded by his family on March 5, 2015. Born December 15, 1938 in Stockton, California to Hugh and Georgiana McColl. He attended Stockton High School and Stockton College before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served in the tank corp at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After leaving the Army, he returned to work at California Water Service until joining the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department in September of 1963. He served as a deputy in the jail, patrol officer, and detective in the burglary division. He served as a Sergeant on the boat patrol after being promoted to Sergeant in March 1970. In 1971, Bob was voted Deputy Sheriff of the Year. In June 1973, he graduated from the National Crime Prevention Institute School of Police Administration at the University of Kentucky. Then in 1977 he was promoted to Lieutenant where he served as Watch Commander, and supervised multiple tactical operations. In 1996, Bob completed his 32 years of service. He was a member of the Deputy Sheriff's Association and the National Law Enforcement Memorial Association. Bob will be dearly missed by family, friends, and everyone that knew him. He was married for 54 years to the love of his life, Beverly McColl. Preceded in death by son John McColl, brothers Hugh and Bert McColl, and sister Ivy Baker. He leaves behind his wife Beverly, daughters Judy Miller and Jill McColl, grandchildren Bradley, John, and Nicholas Miller, Kelli Leabo, and Joseph Silvey, sister Jean Hutchison (Loyal), and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N.
