Richard E. “Dick” Hoffman U.S. Army 332 Field Artillery Headquarters Battalion “Blackhawk Division” Radio Technician 4th Grade European Theatre of Operations (ETO) and Pacific Theatre July 19, 1924 – September 15, 2015 Richard E. “Dick” Hoffman, age 91, a resident of Stockton for more than 52 years, passed away on September 15, 2015. Dick was born in Greeley, Colorado to parents Jacob and Nellie Hoffman, and raised during the depression, on a farm. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Alma Hoffman, sons Kyle Hoffman and Kerry Hoffman, Kyle’s wife Anne, granddaughter Morgen Hoffman, grandson Cody Hoffman, Cody’s wife Becca, grandson Ben and two great granddaughters, Adilene and Claire, and his sister, Barbara. Dick proudly served his country during World War ll as a member of the Army’s 86th Infantry (Blackhawk) Division, in Europe and in the Pacific. His military experience, subsequent work as a Lineman, service with the Pacifica Lions Club, his Lutheran Church and his devotion to wife and family, defined his life. Dick was known for his work ethic, integrity, humor, as a gentleman and for his firm hand shake. Dick retired in 1986 after 44 years, as an electric superintendent with PG&E. His lifetime interests included family genealogy, WWII, hunting, fishing, golf, and especially travel with his “doll”, Alma, through Europe to visit extended family. Dick enjoyed hosting family and friends at his homes in Stockton and at Donner Lake. His BBQ chicken is renowned. “Uncle Dick” was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather, devoted to his family and to his wife, Alma. Please join his family and friends for a Memorial service to be held on Sunday, October 18, 2015, 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 4910 Claremont Avenue, Stockton, California, 95207.
