Mary Josephine Fiori

Mary Josephine Fiori June 2, 1916 - November 9, 2015 Mary Josephine Fiori passed away on November 9, 2015 at the age of 99 in Stockton Ca. She was born in Madera CA to John T. and Amelia Solina, the first of four children. She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Enrico "Rico" Solina and Frank Solina, and her sister Judith McKindley. The family moved to Stockton CA where Mary attended Stockton High School, graduating as a valedictorian for her senior class. She continued her education at SJ Delta College through her 80's. Mary wed Eugene A. Fiori in 1945 and together they had two children, Robert and Maria (Daniel). Eugene passed in 1992. She had three grandchildren, Jennifer (John), Amanda (Eugene) and Tara (Scott) and six great grandchildren, Olivia, Kevin, Emma, Ethan, Ryan and Brooke. Old Noni, as she was known to her great grandkids, loved them all and enjoyed each visit. She dedicated her life to helping others, loving and caring for her family and friends. Mary and Eugene owned a wholesale distribution business until its closing in the 70's. Mary went on to work in the data processing department at San Joaquin Delta College for 11 more years until her retirement. She was an avid tennis player, being in dozens of tournaments at Oak Park Tennis Club, and an emeritus member of that club. She taught a group of young players competitive tennis for the special olympics. She was active in developing the sign language Mass for St. Bernadettes Catholic Church, and being a life long member of the Ladies Guild, she continued to participate in their monthly meetings. She was given a Bishop's Award from the Stockton Diocese and contributed to the well being of her community her entire life. Services are at Deyoung Memorial Chapel, 719 E Harding Way, Stockton CA, Viewing: Nov 16th at 11am-5pm and Nov 17th, 2pm-5pm, Rosary: Nov 17th, 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadettes Catholic Church, 2544 Plymouth Rd, Stockton Ca on November 18th, 2015 at 10 am. Committal service will follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
