Lorraine was born on June 4, 1933 in Stockton to Guido and Olympia Mazza. As a proud daughter of Italian immigrants, she worked hard to honor her family’s traditions. She attended Lincoln Elementary School, Stockton Junior High School, and was a proud graduate of Edison High School in 1951.
After graduating from high school, Lorraine worked as a teller at Bank of America. According to lore, customers would change lines and wait extra time just to have Lorraine assist them. It was also during this time that she bought her first car for a whopping $75! Later in life, she often reminisced about driving with friends to local dances and to see shows in South Lake Tahoe.
In 1961, Lorraine met and married her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Coburn. They remained together until his passing in 2020. During their marriage, Lorraine was a devoted wife and mother. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at Colonial Heights and Lincoln High for both of her sons– taking great pride in their accomplishments.
Lorraine will be remembered for the delicious meals that she prepared, and the loving things that she did each day for her family. Lorraine especially loved decorating during the holidays, preparing a beautiful Christmas dinner, and creating unique Easter baskets for her grandchildren. She also will be remembered for her immaculately maintained house, her beautifully coordinated outfits, and her unique sense of humor.
Lorraine is survived by her loving sons Terry (Vicki) and Tim (Jean), and her sisters-in-law, Gloria Mazza and Sharon Maragliano. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Alex Coburn, Kendra Coburn, and Nicole Coburn. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother and sister, Guido Mazza and Genevine Ravo.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, December 19th at 4pm followed by a Rosary at 530pm at DeYoung Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, December 20th at 10:00 AM at Presentation Church. Donations may be made to your favorite charity. Committal will be private at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held following the service.
A virtual guestbook is available to leave messages and condolences at Lorraine's webpage found at DeYoungMemorialChapel.com. The family would like to thank Dr. Mita Gordo and the staff at The Commons on Thornton for their care and dedication over the past three years.
