Joseph ‘Joe’ Basilio Larrañaga left to join his beloved ‘Terry’ (Zakie) on Friday, March 27th . At his end here, Joe was at home on Jack Tone Road with his family. He wished to be at his ‘ranch’ that had been his home with Terry for 65 years. Joe was 91 years old and the last surviving family member of Jose’ Melchor Larrañaga married to Pilar Aldunate, who owned the Taft Clothing store many years ago in downtown Stockton. Joe worked for many years for the Indelicato Family and their Winery in Manteca while managing his small ranch until sold to John and Terry Dondero. Joe served his country during WWII and was part of the Normandy force during his tour. Joe is survived by his sons and daughter, Joe and Larry Larrañaga, and Maria Eleña Larrañaga Gutsche. Joe and Terry during this time were blessed and surrounded with their two sons and daughter and their spouses, Ruth, Anita Louise, and Lance Gutsche, their grandchildren; Dan Severson, Nichole Severson, Joe Larranaga Jr, Eric Ardella Quispe, Matthew and Dustin Burkes-Larrañaga, Pilar and Greg Gutsche, and their great grandchildren, Laila and Cash Gutsche, and Justin Severson.
Funeral services for Joe will be held at 9:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 5882 N Ashley Lane, Stockton, on Saturday the 11th of April. DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N California St. Stockton, will have a viewing for Joe on the Friday prior from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Corporal Joseph Basilio Larrañaga will be buried with his sweet beautiful Zachy (Terry) with Military Honors at 10 a.m. Monday the 13th of April at the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, 719 E Harding Way, Stockton. Friends and Family are welcome. Joe would like that. Terry too.
