April 14, 1930 – May 12, 2018
Douglas Maglinte Duhaylongsod, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2018 at his home in Stockton. He was born in Sherman Island, California to Cirilo and Adriana Maglinte Duhaylongsod who immigrated from Siquijor Island in the Philippines. He grew up in Isleton, California where he worked in farm labor camps in the Delta, mostly as a tractor driver. He married Lourdes Jumawan on September 20, 1970. They raised their family, also in Isleton, and ran a cardroom from their home where friends and members of the community gathered and shared stories. He was also a Charter Member of the Isleton Filipino Community, an association created to support the elderly and educate the young about their Filipino heritage. All his adult life Douglas had a passion for music. He especially loved to play the saxophone, a legacy that inspired his children and grandchildren to play various musical instruments in their respective school bands. He also enjoyed fishing, watching war movies, and playing cards. What Douglas treasured most of all was being with his family and chatting with his many lifelong friends. He is survived by his wife, Lourdes; his son, Mark, and daughter, Leslie; daughter-in-law, Jaye Mandac Duhaylongsod, and son-in-law, Eric Beerbohm; and four grandchildren: Jasmyn Jaya and Ryan Duhaylongsod; Justin and Nate Duhaylongsod Beerbohm.
