Alma was born in Stockton on February 18, 1927 to Davino and Sandrina Ungaretti. She attended local schools and graduated from Stockton High. During high school she met the love of her life, Andy Rodrigues. After waiting for Andy to return home from his WWII tour of duty, they married in June of 1946. The couple eventually built their home on 10 acres in the countryside of Stockton where they raised their two sons.
Alma worked for twenty years at the Diamond Walnut Company, retiring in 1985. She was a master at canning anything and everything that was grown on their ranch but nothing more marvelous than her tomato sauce which was the beginning of many of her Italian dishes as her “gravy.” No one ever left Alma’s house hungry!
After retirement, they spent more time in their motorhome traveling and camping at Pismo Beach, Lake Alpine, and Dillon Beach. Many of those trips included their sons and family, where Alma enjoyed her grandchildren to the fullest. Alma also enjoyed gardening, but more importantly, spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly.
Alma is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 69 years Andy, her brother Fred Ungaretti, and her granddaughter, Alisha Rodrigues. She is survived by her sons Andy (Alison) of Lodi, and John (Janet) of Linden. She leaves behind granddaughters Kelly Thompson (Dan) of Redding, Kristy Valentine (Charlie) of Lodi and five great-grandchildren; Maliah, Grant and Julia, Kaitlyn, and Camden, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, Alma would want you to donate to the charity of your choice. DeYoung Memorial Chapel is fulfilling her final wishes.
