Aileen Andrews was born September 6, 1920 to Arthur and Agnes Bolter at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stockton. Aileen graduated from Stockton High School and College of the Pacific. She was a member of Alpha Theta Tau Sorority, and was a past president of Lambda Theta Phi Sorority. She was also a member of Junior Aid, West Lane Tennis Club, Stockton Ballet Guild, San Joaquin Athletic Club, and a pink lady of the Dameron Hospital Auxiliary. Aileen married Perry Andrews in Morris Chapel at College of the Pacific in November, 1945. Perry was a major in the Army Air Corps and served in World War II. He had duty overseas in the China-Burma theater flying C-47's and C-46's over the Himalayas, commonly called "The Hump." He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Perry and Aileen were a devoted couple for over 68 years until Perry's death in 2014. Aileen worked side-by-side with Perry at their Ethan Allen furniture store for many years and was also secretary to the manager of Breuner's in approximately 1946-1950. She enjoyed bridge, music, dance, tennis, traveling, and being with her friends. Perry and Aileen enjoyed their many travels in the United States. Their travels in Europe included England, Scotland, France, and Italy. They particularly enjoyed a "Grand Tour" trip of Rome, Florence, Venice, Portofino, and Bolzano, Italy. Some of her many favorite charities included St. Mary's Dining Hall, Blind Center, Children's Home, Haggin Museum, Hospice, Stockton Beautiful, and the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her niece, Pat Smith of Denver, Colorado; Sue Hammers- mark of Billings, Montana; her Orinda family, Will & Sharon Alloway; Matt Alloway of New York; Michael and Rachel Alloway of Denver; Spencer "Butch" Adams of Hawaii; and Andrea & J.C. Curran of Piedmont.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 13 at 1 pm at St. Catherine's Chapel in O'Connor Woods, 3400 Wagner Heights Road, Stockton, with a reception to follow in the Garden Oaks living room. Visitation at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive on Monday, February 12, 12 pm - 5 pm and February 13, 9 am - 12 pm. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary's Dining Room, 545 W. Sonora Street, Stockton, CA or the charity of your choice.
