Mama you were an amazing person, you would always care for me and my brothers no matter what. you would make our favorite foods just for us, I remember how in the mornings you would cook porridge and for dinner sometimes you would make brown stew chicken for us. I remember when I had trouble coping with Georgia schools and the bullies you would always cheer me up with your humor. you were a very considerate person and you will be missed. My Dearest Auntie, my heart hurt by your loss; I will miss you so, so much.  I will miss the long talks, laughter we had; I will miss picking up the phone and calling you and you would listen and when I ask what you think Auntie, you would answer in that very soft voice that was always comforting. My Grandmother, Veronica was affectionately called “Mama”. She was simply an amazing woman. I was blessed to have her in my life for so long. She did so much for me. I remember when my brothers and I used to eat dinner at her house and she wouldn't give us anything to drink until we finished everything on our plate. I didn't realize at the time that she was teaching us discipline. She picked us up from school and was always available for us to talk to.  I am going to remember her for many things; one was how encouraging she was, she always encouraged me, and when I told her the things I wanted to achieve she never shot any dream I had down; another thing I will always remember is her sense of humor. She had a Jamaican saying for every situation. They often involved animals (every dog has his day and ”ano one time monkey need fe wipe” and “ puss an dog don't have the same luck”).  She was always there for me no matter what, and I am going to miss her.

To my mother; I grew under your heart  but you grew in mine. You taught me how to read, write, dress, sew, cook , clean and the list is endless but the most valuable lesson of all; you taught me humility, and how to love. There isn't a moment that goes buy that I don't use what you have taught me. For all the things you have done for me Mama I thank you. My love for you is eternal; may God Bless and Keep You close.

I want you to know that my thoughts and prayer are with you during this difficult time of grieving the loss of your mom - my friend.  She was a great lady- generous – caring- an encourager- a lot of class and style- good taste. I have such fond memories of the times I stayed in your home on my visits to New York. She always made me feel very comfortable and welcomed. She treated me like a sister. We spent a lot of time together shopping. (All her friends know she liked to shop!)?  She knew where to find the best buys on my shopping list and we would shop for hours on end coming home tired and laden with shopping. Sometimes we had difficulty carrying all the things we had bought! I am smiling because I am remembering us struggling with all the bags from the subway station. 

Thank you Ver for your kindness and selflessness. You will be fondly remembered.
