Robert " Bob " Jones

Robert E.(Bob) Jones passed away at home August 22, 2013 surrounded by his family. Born in Atlanta July 18, 1931 he was the only son of the late Byron R. Jones and Floy Naomi Jones Myers of Atlanta. He was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School class of 1949 and attended the University of Georgia-Atlanta Division. Bob went on to be an exceptional carpenter and custom home builder in DeKalb County.

In addition to being able to build anything, Bob was a an avid fisherman, hunter, gun rights supporter and a lifetime member of the NRA.

Bob also had a long distinguished military career with the Army Reserve, achieving many Meritorious Service Awards, medals and retired as a Master Sergeant. His Reserve units included the 1188th US Army Outport and the 81st US Army Reserve Command here in Atlanta.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maryanne Barbara Landis Jones of Lithonia. They were married August 3, 1952. He is also survived by 2 daughters - Vicky Lynn Jones and Cynthia Gail Jones Noyes and husband William Noyes. Granddaughter - Kimberly Gerlach Chance, Jason Chance and great grandson Joseph Chance. Grandson- Reverend Christopher Gerlach, Carla Gerlach and great grandsons, Charlie Gerlach, Israel Gerlach and Meyer Gerlach.

The family will receive visitors at the Horis A. Ward-Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281 from 1-3pm Wednesday August 28th with memorial service following at 3pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Emory Winship Cancer Institute.
