Nancy Virginia Kenney

Nancy was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Mildred and Walter Smith on October 25, 1949. She was a loving wife to Samuel Kenney since November 28, 1969. They 1st met when they were 12 and 16, when Sam chased her and two other girls down on his bicycle. He was lucky enough to keep chasing her for 55 years of marriage.

They have three sons, Shawn, Steven and Kurt. Nancy devoted her life to raising them and creating a loving home for her family. In fact, if you know Nancy, you will know, that she raised many more kids than her own. Her house and arms were always open to anyone who needed love. She had an infectious laugh and smile, and you could not help but be happy around her.

To her children, she was an ear that always listened and a comforting hug. To her grandchildren, she was a lap that was always open and loving arms to run into when life got too much. She always knew what to say to each one of us to make it better.

Even though her last days were difficult for her, you could still walk through the door and she would be sitting at the table, ready to greet you with a warm smile & kind word. We are grateful for the life she led and the impact she had on so many lives. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts and we are grateful that she met Jesus with arms wide open and that her laughter now continues in heaven, where she has no more pain.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters and brother. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Mr. Samuel Kenney; three sons, Shawn, Steven, and Kurt Kenney; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Macie, Ari, Bailey, Camden, Hannah, and Kristen Kenney; two great grandchildren, Gracyn Gutierrez and Kailand Walden; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

A visitation of family and friends will be held for Nancy on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of her life will occur Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel.
