She was born in Hanceville, Alabama on August 21, 1935. She was 89.
She was preceded in her death by her mother, Mamie Whitaker Herndon; her father, Fletcher Herndon; son Keith Curl; grandson Kyle Curl; sister Joe Henderson; and brother, Roylee Herndon.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Barney Joe Curl of Stockbridge, originally from Hanceville, Alabama; Sister, Faye Pitts; Daughter, Kim Sinclair (Alan) of Stockbridge; Son, Kelly Curl (Rhonda) of Monroe, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend to those that knew her. She has been voted the "Best Cook Ever' by anyone that has ever tasted her homemade biscuits with gravy, cornbread, cubed steak, fried potatoes, chicken tenders, lemon pies, and the now world-famous banana pudding (thanks to Pastor Chip Coleman). She loved and was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves, and never turned away a game of Phase 10, Dominoes or Rook with her family and friends. She also loved to watch her children play sports and was by far the loudest and best fan! She was a member of Berean Baptist Church of McDonough, Georgia.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Sue on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. Another visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Berean Baptist Church | 350 Atlanta Street, McDonough, Georgia, 30253. A celebration of her life will begin at 3:00 PM at Berean Baptist Church with Pastors Alan Sinclair Chip Coleman officiating. Services will conclude with a graveside farewell and committal service on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Garden City Cemetery | 450 Water Ave. SE, Hanceville, Alabama, 35077.
