Martha was born July 28, 1931 in East Point, Georgia to Fred and Vera Wheeler. She was married to her loving husband, Jack Thompson, for 41 years . She worked for Bellsouth for 34 and retired in 1989. Martha was an active member of Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia. She was an avid reader and loved to shop. She was best known for her famous cheese biscuits. Martha was a great southern cook. She also loved coffee, but most of all she loved her family. She was our encourager, our toughest critic, and our biggest cheerleader.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Vera Wheeler and her husband Jack Thompson.
She is survived by three children, Norma Harris (Wayne), April Wright (Rex), Jamie Blalock (Shane); nine grandchildren, Ashley Short (Mike), Jeremy Harris (Samnang), Andie Harris, Zack Wright (Nancy), Luke Wright (Savannah), Cody Wright, Michael Blalock (Olivia), Britney Blalock, and Katie Blalock; four great grandchildren, Jackson, Jerry, Janie and Eli; two sisters, Jackie Wallace and Dot Coogler (Calvin); along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Martha on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of her life will immediately follow in Ward's Chapel. Services will conclude with a graveside committal at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
