Leroy Matthew Harris Sr.

He was born the seventh child of eight boys and one girl, all of whom preceded him in death except his youngest sibling, Henry Joe Harris.

His love for Christ was exemplified in all he did in his journey through life. He became an ordained deacon at an early age at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Ellenwood, Georgia under the leadership of the late Reverend W. L. Reynolds. While serving for many years, he also had a love for singing, traveling and recording with The Spiritual Aires of Smyrna, Georgia for many years.

When entering his home, you would always be greeted with music of many great quartet artists and him giving praise for his love of life and God’s daily goodness.

He worked until retirement for the Town and Country Furniture Store for many years in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He also had many cleaning services employing many throughout Decatur and surrounding Atlanta areas. His legacy is still thriving with Harris Cleaning Services with four generations at the Paideia School of Atlanta, Georgia.

He had a deep passion for gardening and raising livestock, always sharing with family, friends and the community to feed all from the love and care of his heart of giving.

His life will forever be honored and cherished by his wife of 64 years, Juanita Virginia Flemister Harris; four children, Leroy M. Harris, Jr., Rhonda F. Harris, Bruce Harris, Sr. and Kenneth Harris Sr.; 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other family members and longtime friends.

Visitation for Leroy will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM in The Heritage Suite at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A Celebration of Life for Deacon Leroy Matthew "Bo" Harris, Sr. will occur on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2627 Ward Lake Road, Ellenwood, Georgia 30294. The Interment will immediately follow in Kennedy Memorial Gardens, 2500 River Road, Ellenwood, Georgia 30294.
