Daniel Farr Langford

Dan was born in Atlanta, GA on March 13, 1936 to parents John and Elizabeth Farr Langford. After graduating from Decatur High School in 1954, Dan joined the United States Navy, serving from 1955 to 1958. After an honorable discharge, Dan graduated from mortuary school and began his professional career with Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in Decatur, GA. Ward’s would be the only family Dan ever worked for, retiring in 1999 after 40 years of service.

Shortly after beginning his career, he met Phoebe Rebecca Johnson, of Greer, SC, a student attending Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. She and Dan wed on July 22, 1962, building a loving family together until Phoebe’s passing in August 2001.

Dan was ever a service-minded person, dedicating over 50 years of service and brotherhood to the Panthersville Masonic Lodge #543, located in Stockbridge, GA.

Mr. Langford is survived by his son, Victor Langford of Tucker, GA; his son and daughter-in-law Brent and Becky Langford, and grandchildren Caroline and Evan of Suwanee, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Phoebe; infant twin daughters, Valerie Leigh and Virginia Leslie; his brother, Robert;.

Mr. Langford will be honored on Saturday, February 3 at 11:00 AM at Buford Presbyterian Church in Sugar Hill, GA, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment to be held in Fairview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. All are welcome to attend to share in remembering Dan with friends and family.
