Laura, as she was affectionately called, was born on June 21, 1933 in Alexander City, Alabama to Allen Clark and Annie Beatrice Clark. She graduated high school in 1951 from Roosevelt High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Laura met and married Jessie Langston and together they lived happily ever after until his passing.
Mam Maw, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, was an amazing caregiver and an extremely loving grandmother. She had the prettiest smile anyone could imagine. She loved to dance and was humorous in her own right. If you ever met her, you would never forget her. She loved everyone and never met a stranger or had an enemy. Laura saw the good in everyone that she met and loved. She was loved by many. Her favorite song to sing to her children was "You Are My Sunshine." She always stood by her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Clark and Annie Beatrice Allen Clark; husband, Jessie B. Langston; son, James David Shaw; brothers, Neely C. Raines and Clyde Raines; and sisters,Ollie Raines Blankenship and Lois Raines Turner.
Laura's life will forever be remembered and cherished by her children, Sharon Christmas Duke, William Russell Christmas, Jr. and Pamela Ellen Christmas; grandchildren, Marcus Anthony Hammond, Lindsey Nicole Christmas and Megan Lynne Knapp-Christmas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and family friends.
A Graveside Celebration of Life for Annie Laura Langston will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:00AM in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:45AM at the Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor to Rockdale Coalition of Children and Families, P. O. Box 658, Conyers, Georgia 30012. The Rockdale Coalition is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Donations are tax deductible according to IRS regulations.
