Born one of 17 children in Matoaka, WV on January 24, 1930 to the late James O. and the late Lavenia Slone.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran and retiree of Brach’s Candy Company.
John was preceded in death by grandson John Alex Blankenship and long-time companion Ann Neubecker.
Visitation Monday September 9, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 S. Oak Park Ave. Stickney. Chapel Service Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove.
