Joe Anderson Wood, Sr.

Joe Anderson Isaac Wood, Sr., 89, of Fishersville passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Augusta Health. Born June 17, 1924 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Ernest and Pearl (Wood) Wood. Mr. Wood was a veteran having served his country honorably as a Private with the U.S. Army. Joe attended church at Southside Church of God. In his earlier years, he enjoyed yard work and landscaping. He always believed in helping others for the common good. Those left to cherish his memory will remember him as a loving father, devoted grandfather and a friend you could always call upon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ralph Wood; sisters, Estel Brooks. Survivors include his children, Joe A. Wood, Jr. of Alexandria, VA, Henry L. Wood of Staunton, Bonnie K. Baggett and husband, Jesse of Bronson, FL and Robert F. Wood and wife, Crystal of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Steven Baggett and wife Danielle of Sarasota, FL, Jesse Baggett, Jr. and wife, Laura of Bronson, FL, Joseph and Isaac Wood both of Stuarts Draft; great-grandchildren, Austin, Kobe and Karly Baggett of Sarasota, FL and Lynzy and Trent Baggett of Bronson, FL; sister, Maggie Rusmisel; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Phillip Morgan officiating. Military honors will be given by the American Legion Post #340 at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 18 W.
