Sarah Karee Lentz Massey

Sarah Karee Lentz Massey, 94, of Statesville, passed away at Davis Regional Medical Center on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Mrs. Massey was born June 9, 1919 in Iredell County. She was a graduate of Troutman High School and was Saludatorian of her graduating class. She was a homemaker and caretaker for her family. She loved all her family and friends very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Edgar Lentz and Winnie Brawley Lentz and her husband of 62 years, William Harold Massey.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Kay Massey Rogers (the late David William Rogers), of Statesville and a son, William Lentz Massey and wife, Linda of Durham. Also surviving are 2 grand daughters, Donna Rogers Arnett of Statesville and Taylor Linnea Massey, a student at UNCG and two great grandsons, Christian Jacob Arnett and Jarod Micah Arnett both of Statesville.

Family and friends will gather at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville from 12:30 until 1:30 Tuesday followed by a graveside service at 2:00 P.M. at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Dr. Eric Faust officiating.
