Born in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Reese W. Gaither and Ruby Trivette Gaither.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, William Lee Jarvis of 49 years, who passed away in 2001 and one sister, Lavinia “Shug” Wooten.
Mary worked many years at Stimpson Hosiery Mill and retired from Thorlo, Inc. She was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir.
She loved to garden, working in the dirt, doing housework, canning homemade green beans. She will always be remembered for her homemade lemon-vanilla pound cakes.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Charlotte Jarvis of Wilmington, NC; one grandson, Daniel Jarvis; one brother, Jiggs Gaither and two sisters, Edna Woods and Linda Crater.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 12:00 PM– 1:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, 705 Davie Ave. Statesville, NC 28677.
The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Richard Hackler officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
