He was born April 28, 1945, in Iredell County, and was the son of the late Dorothy Cook McLain and J.C. McLain, Jr. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from White Sales. He was an airplane enthusiast and a member of the Statesville Model Flyers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on Sept. 15, 1994, by his wife, Brenda McLain.
Jimmie is survived by two daughters, Tammy McLain of Stony Point and Donna Cagle (Mitchell) of Statesville; a son, Jimmie McLain, Jr. of Harmony; three grandchildren, Shandice Jones and Marissa Jones of Stony Point, and Samuel Cagle of Statesville; a great-grandson, his “little man,” Zaiden Church of Stony Point; a sister, Sandy Martin (Fred); and a brother, Tony McLain (Darlene), both of Statesville.
Funeral services celebrating Jimmie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Williams officiating. Burial will follow at South River Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will assemble at the residence.
