Rev. Garland Lee Lambert, 86, of 234 Union Grove Rd. in Hamptonville, died Saturday, January 29th at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on January 12, 1925, he was a son of the late Lonnie Edward Lambert and Mary Lambert Lambert. Garland worked at Manheim Auto Auction and was a member of Poplar Springs Church Of God. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Garland was an accomplished bluegrass musician, singer, song writer and recording artist. He was also an ordained minister and a former machinist. He was twice married, first to Anna Margaret Lambert and second to Peggy Curry Lambert, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lambert Williams.
Survivors include a son, Rev. Connor Lambert and his wife, Brenda of Troutman, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, along with his beloved dog, Penny.
Services celebrating Garland's life will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Newman and Mr. Willis Pharr officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Private burial will take place in the Poplar Springs Church Of God Cemetery on Wednesday. At other times the family will be assembled at the home of Rev. & Mrs. Connor Lambert at 478 S. Main St. Troutman. Condolences may be sent on line to the family to www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.com.
