Edward Mitchell Robinson

After graduation from Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J. he attended Fordham University and worked as a page at Radio City Music Hall. One of his first broadcasting jobs brought him to Statesville, N.C. where he worked at WSIC. He did a popular Teen Show called The Ruggs Buggy Show. He also worked in radio in Connecticut, eventually coming back to North Carolina where he worked in Charlotte, N.C. at WAME as Program Director and drive-time disc jockey and became known as “Easy Edd”. He also worked at WFMX and WSOC-FM. He was also an instructor at Carolina School of Broadcasting.

Following his retirement, he freelanced in broadcasting and advertising. He also greatly enjoyed working in movies and television as an extra where he became a featured extra in the series, Homeland, as well as well-known movies like The Hunger Games, Leatherheads, The Conspirator, just to name a few. He valued the many friends he made over the years participating in this career.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Kelly.

He is survived by a son, Lawrence Chandley Robinson (Natalie); and a daughter, Carmen Lee Tucker (Shawn); and three grandsons, Tristan Tucker, Gram Tucker and Dashiell Tucker. He is also survived by one brother, Jack Robinson (Ellen) who resides in Boca Raton, FL.; as well as his beloved nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed reading, watching classic movies, collecting radio and movie memorabilia, and spending time with his children and grandchildren whom he was very proud of!

A celebration of Edd's life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Statesville.
