Mrs. Doris Padgett Johnson, 81, of Statesville died Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Maple Leaf Health Care Center of statesville. Mrs. Johnson was born on September 26, 1930 in Rowan County. She was the daughter of the late John Clayton Padgett and Sally Belle Kyles Padgett. She attended Rowan County Schools and was a graduate of Davis Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from the Iredell County Health Department after 33 years and was a member of Yadkin Baptist Church. She was a life member of the Western N.C. Public Health Association.
On November 25, 1951, she married Frederick Oscar Johnson who preceded her in death on October 21, 2002. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Coleman Padgett and one sister, Gertrude Padgett Brown. She is survived by three sons, Mike Johnson (Beverly), Lloyd Johnson (Patricia) and Phillip Johnson (Janice), all of Statesville, a brother, Robert Padgett of Statesville, a sister, Imogene Bristol of Port Charlotte, Fla. and 3 grandchildren, Lynn Johnson (Alisha), Kimberly Dawn Johnson Church (Ken), Jennifer Johnson McElroy (Adam) all of Statesville and 3 great grandchildren, MaKenzie Church, Peyton Church and Grace McElroy all of Statesville along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Cleveland Town Cemetery with Rev. Tony Bunton officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will be assembled at the residence of Mike and Beverly Johnson.
