Mrs. Clara Mae Sain West

Mrs. West was born May 18, 1923 in Davie County to the late Grady P. and Girlie Foster Sain. Mrs. West graduated from Mocksville High School and made a career of sewing at Monleigh Sewing, Southeastern Manufacturing, and T & V Fabrication until the age of 90. She was an active member of Society Baptist Church and was involved in Sunday school, choir, WMU, and Young at Heart. She helped sew 48 prayer quilts for Quilt Ministry. She loved making cakes and persimmon puddings for family and friends.

On February 23, 1946 she married Roy Lee West who preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by son, William (Bill) Lee West and brother, Lester Sain.

Left to cherish her memory is son, Terry L. (Shirley) West; grandson, Jonathan L. (Julie) West; granddaughter, Jennifer L. West; niece, Myra (Jack) Hellard and nephew, Roger Sain all of Mocksville.

The funeral will be held at Society Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 2:30pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:15pm at the church prior to the service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Gideons International or Society Baptist Church Building Fund.
