Brenda Frances Burnette Laxton

Mrs. Brenda Frances Burnette Laxton, 65, of 1928 E. Broad St., Statesville, died May 21, 2013 in an auto accident. Born in Tabor City, N.C. on April 12, 1948, she was a daughter of the late E. B. Burnette and Frances Hewitt Burnette. Brenda was a Teacher Assistant in the Iredell-Statesville Schools working at Cool Springs School. She enjoyed her grandchildren and her animals.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Laxton, whom she married on July 3, 1969, a son, Jason Laxton of Statesville, a daughter, Christy Curtis (Derrick) of Lenoir and four grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Jerry Burnette of Winston-Salem and Mitchell Burnette of Williamsburg, Va. and two sisters, Mrs. Janet Ridings of Pfafftown and Mrs. Kathy Harrell of Lewisville.

Services celebrating Brenda's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. John Parks and Rev. Johnny Bolin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. this evening (Friday) at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
