Mrs. Annie Rebecca Davidson Holmes, 89, was born in Iredell County on September 27, 1935, to the late Jimmy Lee Davidson and Lorena Turner Davidson. She went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Annie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a graduate of Unity High School and was employed with Clarks Equipment, where she retired many years ago. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member at First Baptist Church and later on in her years she became a member of Community Baptist Church. She loved traveling, cooking, and taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Mr. Roger (Woody) Holmes, Sr., a daughter, Cassandra Holmes Scott, a brother, James “Bud” Davidson, a sister, Katherine Davidson, and a grandson, Corey Holmes.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life three sons, Roger L. (Deborah) Holmes of Salisbury, NC, Eric Keith (Jamie) Holmes of Selma, NC, and Jimmy Lee Holmes of Charlotte, NC, and a daughter, Julia Holmes Watkins of Atlanta, GA; twelve grandchildren, Delicia Holmes Guyton, Christopher Holmes, Rashon Holmes, Joshua Holmes, Toccarra (William) Beam, Andayie Scott, James Scott, Jr., Jamarr Scott, Marcus Holmes, Justin (Sarah) Holmes, Eric (Mikaela) Holmes, Erica (Joshua) Barbour; 22 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and dear friends.
Visitation for the family of Mrs. Annie Holmes will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at First Baptist Church. Her funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Isaac Pettis officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited to share a meal together after the funeral.
