Mr. William Robert “Dub” Lovett, III, age 94, died Sunday afternoon at his residence under the care of Hospice. He was a native of Screven County but had lived in Bulloch County most of his life where he was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church, serving as Lay Liturgist, Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Board Trustees and numerous other committees and a member of the Dan Williams Sunday School Class. Mr. Lovett was the former Owner and Operator with his partner and father- in- law Harry Warthen Smith, of H. W. Smith Jewelry, since the late 40’s. He was the founding President of the Statesboro Downtown
Development Authority and the GSU Symphony, Charter member and past president of Forrest Heights Country Club, member and past president of the Statesboro Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, and was past President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Lovett was a member of the Ogeechee Lodge 213 F & AM and a Veteran of the US Army-Air Corps where he served 1 year in Europe in the 8th Air Force Division during WW II and one of the founders of the 10:30am Coffee Club.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father Eleanor Granade and Linwood Bates Lovett and a sister and brother- in- law, Betty Bates and Charles Wright Rockett.
Survivors are his wife of 71 years Joyce Smith Lovett of Statesboro, Ga. Three Sons and Daughters- in- law William Harry ‘Bill” Lovett (Susan) of Savannah, Ga., Linwood Robert “Bob”
Lovett (Carole) of Macon, Ga. and David Olin Lovett (Cynthia) of Statesboro, Ga. Six
Grandchildren Ruth Allen McMullen (Ian), Robert Bates Lovett (Catherine), William Robert
Lovett, IV, Ethan Dixon Lovett (Banks), William Blaine Lovett (Brooke) and Tyce Olin Lovett.
Seven Great Grandchildren, John Oliver McMullen, William Steven Lovett, Linwood Bates
Lovett, Lindsey Grace Lovett, Ellie Joyce Lovett, Chiles Alaina Lovett and Macie Ray Lovett. Two

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning August 19, 2015 at 11:00am at the Statesboro First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating.
Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday morning at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church.
Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons, grandson- in- law, and Joe Edward Mathews and Charles Wright (Chuck) Rockett.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Dan Williams Sunday School Class, Wednesday morning men of faith group and Joyce’s Wednesday morning prayer group and the 10:30am Coffee Club.
