Mrs. Howard was a native of Pulaski, GA but had lived in Statesboro since 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents, David L. and Rita Franklin Foss, a sister, Betty F. Riggs and her husband of 50 years, Jerry W. Howard.
Mrs. Howard was a charter member of Pittman Park United Methodist Church, in 1956. Mama Jean, as she was fondly called, loved her church, her family and her friends. She attended Georgia Southern football games from the beginning of the program and then listened to the games on the radio after her health declined. In her later years, she became an avid Atlanta Braves and Tom Brady (New England Patriots) fan.
Mrs. Howard is survived by a son, David W. Howard and his wife, Andrea of Savannah, GA; a daughter, Carol H. Ruffo and her husband, Ronnie of Statesboro; a brother, Franklin Foss of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandsons, Wesley Howard, Jeffery Richardson and his wife, Gina and Tyler Richardson; step-granddaughters, Jessica Roberts, Bailie and Ashley Ruffo; great-grandchildren, Lauren Howard and Monroe Howard Richardson; step-great grandchildren, Taylor and Cooper Roberts.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 PM Sunday, December 27, 2015 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Akins and Reverend Bill Bagwell officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Richardson, Tyler Richardson, Wesley Howard, Pinckney Crosby, Claude Howard and Bill Howard.
