STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - William A. Iommi, 63, Castleton Corners, a retired stock exchange market surveillance director and brokerage consultant who was devoted to his family, died Thursday in the Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton, of complications of a stroke.
Born in New Brighton, the lifelong Staten Islander graduated from Curtis High School and attended the College of Staten Island. He moved to Castleton Corners in 1976.
Mr. Iommi worked for the New York Stock Exchange and American Stock Exchange from 1968 until 1993. He then became an independent consultant for various brokerage firms and was a compliance officer for Smith-Barney and Rodman & Renshaw. He retired from Rodman & Renshaw in 2012.
He loved to play the guitar and listen to Beatles’ music. An Atlanta Braves fan, he also loved playing golf and bowling.
Mr. Iommi loved to entertain and cook for his family and friends, travel with his wife, the former Lynne Bonner, and spend time with his grandchildren.
“He was known for his sense of humor and his infectious laugh,” said his daughter, Laura Meems.
Surviving, along with Lynne, his wife of 43 years, and his daughter, Laura, are his son, William Jr.; his daughter, Julie Czapalski; a brother, Thomas; four sisters, Diane Iommi, April Benasich-Melcher, Lynne Cohen, and Jeri Goldshlack, and five grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Arrangements include cremation.
