A six year battle against pancreatic cancer ended yesterday the same way she lived, quietly and with dignity, surrounded by those who loved her most.
Born in London, England she survived the Blitz during WWII, came to the United States with her mother and two sisters in 1950(?), settled in Brooklyn and never left. Having always retained her British accent, her steady resolve and iron will left an impression on everyone she met.
Of all the roles she filled in life, the one she was most proud of was that of mother. Calm, loyal, responsible, and true; of the qualities she possessed the one she tried most to instill in her loved ones was patience.
She enjoyed traveling, loved dancing and socializing but what she cherished most was spending time with her family. Her kind, thoughtful and generous nature was most evident around the holidays, especially Christmas and birthdays. She is survived by her Sisters Elsie Sciandra and Joyce, brother Lionel (Mick), sons; Wayne and Darren, her daughters-in-law; Lisa (née Pirrone) and Angela (nee Romano), former husband Salvatore and three grand children; Lorenzo, Leonardo and Anthony who were the light of her life.
