Rita Grasso

Rita Grasso passed away on September 8, 2023, at the age of 95 at Egers Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she was a resident for 2 months. Rita was a devoted wife to Joseph, who passed away on June 24, 2022. She was a loving, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Rita was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She attended Central High School of Needle Trades in Manhattan where she learned the skill of sewing. Rita worked in many clothing factories throughout her life. She married Joseph and they raised two children together, Michael and Ann. Rita lived in Staten Island for 28 years. Rita loved spending time with her family. She was an amazing cook and loved hosting holiday dinners. She also loved to bake and make her traditional struffoli and baklava. For the holidays, Rita made many Halloween costumes for her grandchildren and made curtains for their rooms. That was her enjoyment, to do things for her family.

Rita was a grandmother to six grandchildren and a great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren. She was adored by all of them. Rita was married to Joseph for 69 years before his passing on June 24, 2022. Rita is survived by her son Michael, daughter-in-law Lorraine, daughter Ann, son-in-law Mike, grandchildren Michele, Jennifer, Christine (her husband Vinny), Lisa, Michael and Nicholas, great-grandchildren Anthony, Matthew, Vincent and Emma.

A visitation for Rita will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Clares Church, 110 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A committal service will occur Monday, September 18, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Resurrection, 361 Sharrotts Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10309.
