Norman Peterson was born on April 25, 1947, in Fordham Hospital, Bronx, New York to Augie and Margaret Peterson. Norm's parents were from Scotland and Denmark.
Norm spent his childhood in Staten Island, New York, graduating from McKee Technical High School. At that time, he began to travel to the beaches of Florida where he met his first wife, Deidre. Together, they had three daughters' and resided in Annandale, Staten Island, where they were surrounded by special neighbors and friends.
He began his career in sheet-metal and then later, as an avid businessman, opened his own company, including heating & air-conditioning service, with his brother, Gene. After Norm's beloved brother was killed in a car accident, he went on to start a new career in the building industry. In addition to using his numerous carpentry & mechanical skills in a variety of ways, Norm was a successful land developer and speculative builder. In his younger years, Norman loved to play softball and tennis with his friends and family. He also loved to travel and was dedicated to showing his family all the beautiful places in the country and world.
In the mid 80's, Mike, Norman's business partner and friend, introduced Norman to his daughter, Hanna, who became the love of his life. They were married in upstate New York in 1992. Together, they had two amazing sons, resided in NYC and spent lots of time working, traveling and playing at home.
Norman's greatest joy was found in his family and relationships. He was a provider that shared valuable guidance, support and encouragement. He taught and mentored in selfless, generous, and kind ways. He was extremely forgiving and trustworthy. He accepted all for who they are and was amazingly loyal. He was a protector and modeled an incredibly strong work ethic. He always desired to do what was right and he inspired others to do the same. When Norman was at a crossroad, faced with a choice, he would always choose the road that would benefit others. And all the while, through good times and bad, he always maintained his unique sense of humor.
