Marie Giuliano

Longtime Staten Islander Marie Giuliano, 88, who is remembered for her warm personality, died Saturday in Carmel Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Dongan Hills, where she had resided for several months.

Born Marie Forlenza in Pittston, Pa., she moved with her family to Stapleton, where she spent much of her life. She relocated to Tomsford, N.J., 20 years ago, but returned to the Island several months ago.

She graduated from Curtis High School.

Mrs. Giuliano had many friends and simply loved being around people, said her brother, Joseph Forlenza.

She enjoyed playing cards and bowling, and had bowled 200 games.

She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Tompkinsville.

She had a strong faith “in the best sense of the word,” her brother said.

Mrs. Giuliano was preceded in death by David, her husband of more than 40 years, and her son, David Jr.

Surviving, along with her brother, Joseph, are a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Grasmere.
