Kathleen graduated from St. Peter’s Girls High School in 1962. She married her husband Thomas Burke on April 24, 1965, and had five children. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. Kathy is fondly remembered along with her deceased husband Tom, as owners of the Westerleigh Deli. It truly was a family affair where her sister Betty Ann, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her children all worked. The deli was embraced by the Westerleigh community and people still remember the great food and special service that was given to them.
Kathy was a devoted parishioner of Blessed Sacrament and went to church every week. She always had her prayer book open praying for anyone in the family who needed it.
Kathy had a love for gambling and going to AC was one of her favorite things to do. She also enjoyed scratch-offs and betting on the daily numbers. During the last few years of her life, she really enjoyed going to her son’s house to play cards, especially Rack-O
Kathy’s happiest moments of her life were spending time with her seven grandchildren and great-grandson.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents John And Kathyrn Tighe, her brothers John and Raymond, and her husband of 35 years Thomas Burke.
She is survived by her daughters Eileen and husband Brian Dougherty of South River, NJ; Kathleen of Staten Island; Christine of Cincinnati, Ohio and sons Thomas Burke and wife Christine; John Burke and wife Patricia of Staten Island. Grandchildren Maria, Victoria, Madison, Michael, Ryan, Reagan, and Mickey, and great-grandson Angelo. Also, surviving are her siblings Peggy, Ricky, Ellen, Dennis, and Betty Ann.
