Native Staten Islander enjoyed model trains and photography
John Thomas "Jack" McNamara Jr., 71, a native Staten Islander, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on March 16, 2019.
He was a loving husband to Paula (Terrelle) McNamara for 49 years, father of John McNamara and Lisa McNamara-Salaris, father-in-law to Diane Palmeri McNamara and Anthony Salaris; and beloved grandfather of Kaitlyn, Connor, Gillian, and Alexandra.
Jack is also survived by his sister, Virginia Wisnieswki, brothers-in-law, Joseph, Gerard and John Terrelle, David Wisniewski, and many nieces and nephews.
Jack always had a smile on his face, was kind hearted and loved by all. He loved to travel, collect model trains, history and photography. He was an avid Mets and Giants fan, and enjoyed coaching youth basketball.
Jack graduated from Port Richmond High School and the former Richmond College. He was a structural engineer who completed projects on the Freedom Tower, South Ferry Subway Station, and Barclay Center.
Visitation is Monday, March 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Casey McCallum Rice, 30 Nelson Ave. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at The Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, 5371 Amboy Rd. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
