Beloved mother and career woman
Genevieve Simmons, 93, passed away peacefully on Oct. 31, 2017, at home.
Genevieve was born July 26, 1924, on Staten Island and was a beloved mother and career woman. Years ahead of her time, she held numerous career positions over a 30-year period, including The Department of the Navy in Bayonne, CUNY, and Happag-Lloyd. Genevieve spoke three languages, and was a superb cook and baker. Favorite hobbies included autobiography reading, including a never ending love of the past life of Jacqueline Onassis. Her love of flowers and happiness in her piano playing for others were amongst her joys.
Genevieve is survived by her only son, Joseph; sister, Fedalia; five nieces and nephews and family members.
As her son, Joseph, said, "Thank you Mom for all your love and guidance and for teaching me the most important values of life. I hope I made you proud."
Services will be private.
