Born on November 1, 1928 on Staten Island to the late James and Bertha Gardner. Dorothy had resided in Great Kills in the house she and her late husband John W. Carbone had built together until her stroke in 2015. She has since been living with her daughter Jeanne (Carbone) Olivo and Jeanne’s Husband Michael Olivo. Dorothy had been an active parishioner of St. Albans Episcopal Church in Eltingville. She was also a devoted to her family and spent her life caring for them all.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her sisters Margret Desario and Florence Barracato and her brother James Gardner.
Survivors include her two children Jeanne Marie Olivo and husband Michael and John Martin Carbone and wife Alisa, four adoring grandchildren Angela (Olivo) Sierra and husband Edgardo, Brittany Renee, Allison Elizabeth and Natalie Rose Carbone, one great grandson Aiden J.C. Sierra and dear brother Harry Gardner and wife Teresa. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy’s Life Celebration will include visiting on Thursday July 7, 2022 from 2 -4 pm and 7- 9 pm at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Ave, Staten Island, NY. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday July 8, 2022 at10:30 am at St Albans Episcopal Church, Eltingville, NY. Family and Friends are respectfully invited to meet directly at church for Mass. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Rd, Staten Island.
