Alphonse Berardis

Alphonse (Ally Boy) Berardis, 70, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on June 24, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Born to the late Amerigo (Hammie) Berardis and Eleanor (Paolucci) Berardis, Alphonse leaves behind his devoted wife of 46 years Frances (Spinelli) Berardis, his loving children Christine and her husband Jimmy Gofas and Robert and his wife Lori and his loving grandchildren Nicholas, Riley, Alexandra and Lila. He is also survived by his sister Eleanor and brother Richard. Alphonse was born and raised in Manhattan and attended Chelsea Vocational High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a retired corrections officer. He also spent 25 years in the family restaurant, Paolucci's on Mulberry St. Alphonse was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Veterans Club. Alphonse and Frances enjoyed 43 years on Staten Island raising their children until relocating 3 years ago to Manchester, NJ. Alphonse loved spending time with his grandchildren and making them his special Grandpa pancakes. He loved to cook and everyone loved his delicious lasagna, meatballs and he made the best struffoli. He enjoyed going to the beach, playing the lottery and going to the racetrack. Alphonse and Frances enjoyed taking trips together to Atlantic City and the Jersey shore. He also enjoyed going on cruises and vacations with close friends and family. Alphonse fought a long, hard battle against cancer with courage and strength and never complained despite everything he was going through. Alphonse was loved by many and his family and friends will have a hard time filling the void that he has left behind. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 27th from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slossen Ave. Staten Island, NY 10314. Mass will be held on Wednesday June 28th at !0:45am at St. Teresa Church, 1632 Victory Blvd. Staten Island, NY 10314
