Reverend Robert Youngblood Kerby, Sr., 88 of Stanley was called home, by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Robert was under the care of Gaston County Hospice and he passed at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. Robert was born on June 19, 1935 in Bennettsville, SC to the late Ruth (Youngblood) Kerby and Merle Dale Kerby.
Robert is married to Betty (Woolbright) Kerby. They were married in 1956 and they have been married 68 years. Robert was a full time pastor serving in various places in The United States including Montana and Idaho as a home missionary – appointed by The Home Mission Board. He and Betty have been a team in ministry. Both Robert and Betty are graduates of Furman University, in Greenville, SC. Robert continued his studies and additionally he received a Bachelor of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Robert is retired from the ministry, but he touched many lives, and he will be truly missed.
Preceding Robert in death is his son, Robert Youngblood, Jr.
Charged with carrying on Robert’s legacy ae his wife, Betty (Woolbright) Kerby of the home, his sons Matthew Lee Kerby of Stanley and his wife Brenda and Daniel Wallace Kerby and his wife Michelle. Missing their grandfather are five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Robert has many additional extended family members who are grieving his loss.
The family plans a private service at a later date.
