Lorie (Terry) Lewis, 54, of Stanley passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 28, 2024 at The Robin Johnson Hospice House, in Dallas surrounded by her loving family. Lorie was a loving, caring and giving soul. Her focus was her family. She made sure everyone in her family was well taken care of. Lorie was also an animal person. She loved her pets dearly. She enjoyed traveling. She loved going to the mountains and the beach, but she was especially fond of the beach and she called it her “happy place.” She also enjoyed the occasional slushy. Her family will miss her voice from her phone calls. Lorie had a great impact on many people’s lives and her family, friends and neighbors will miss her.
Lorie is the daughter or the late Gaynell Elizabeth (Teddy) Terry and Leon Marion Terry, Sr. Her brother, Leon Terry, Jr. and a grandson, Payton Lewis have gone on before her. Her grandparents, Pansy and Frank Teddy and John and Kate Terry also precede her in death.
Lorie leaves behind her husband of 27 years, Douglas “Doug” Lewis of the home and her two daughters, Ashley Stevens (James) and Brooklyn Lewis (Devin). Her stepchildren Victoria Griffis (Dillon) and Douglas Lewis (Lauren) are also grieving. Missing his grandmother is her grandson, Bradyn Freeze. Lorie was also a grandmother to Doug’s grandchildren: Madison (Waylon), Aiden, Alex, Sophia “Cookie,” K.P., Livi Kate, Magnolia, Declan and Lydia. Her sister, Pam Terry, and brother, Brandon Terry will miss her deeply. Also left behind is her stepmother, Faith Terry and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
