James Daniel Medlin

James Medlin, 74, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Jimmy was a native of Gaston County and was born June 19, 1943 to the late Harry Medlin and Marjorie Setzer Medlin. He was a 1961 graduate of Stanley High School. Jim was a man of many talents. He enjoyed restoring and showing his antique cars, playing electric bass, woodworking, fly fishing and gardening. He recently retired after a 53 year career with Gaston County Dyeing Machine Company in Mount Holly, NC. Jim was a fun loving guy and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Rhoda Farris Medlin; son, Michael Medlin of Gastonia, daughter, Dana Simpson and husband, Scott of Stanley; grandchildren, Dori Medlin, John Medlin, Jake Simpson and Corey Simpson.

Jim was preceded in death by three siblings, John, Bill and Patsy.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.

The family will receive friend from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
