David Jackson Armstrong, 74, of Dallas passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at Novant – Presbyterian in Charlotte, North Carolina. David served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a medic during the Vietnam Conflict. When he came home, he worked for Westinghouse, which was acquired by the Siemans Corporation. David was a dedicated worker who worked for these companies for a total of 49 years. He was a maintenance mechanic, repairing electrical turbines. His family says he would have loved to work longer, but health conditions prevented him from return to work. He could fix nearly anything. He worked on his own cars. He changed his own oil and for a time he even changed the oil in his daughter’s cars. David was a gun enthusiast. He was a competitive shooter and he often competed at the Wildlife Club in Charlotte. He frequented the Pancake House in Gastonia. The staff of the Pancake House dearly misses him. David was health conscious. He enjoyed cycling and walking. Interestingly enough he also had a sweet-tooth and he always expected desert with his dinner. David touched many lives and many will dearly miss him.
David is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dana (Friday) Armstrong. David is the son of the late Nell (Brafford) Armstrong and Robert Jackson Armstrong. His brother, Robert Armstrong, has also gone on before him.
David leaves behind his two daughters, Jennifer Armstrong and Angela Goins and her husband Scott. Grieving the loss of their grandfather are his grandchildren, Lathan Luu, Angel Goins, Brayden Luu, Jessica Goins, Shannon Goins and Thomas Goins. His legacy includes a great-granddaughter, Lana Miller. He also leaves behind his sister Sandra Canning and his sister-in-law, Lois Armstrong.
