Charles Franklin “Frank” Gardner, Sr., 86, of Stanley, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 26, 2023. He was born in McAdenville on March 19, 1937 to the late J.D. and Hazel Gardner. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ned and Joe Gardner.
Frank graduated from Stanley High School and went to work for the railroad prior to taking a job with Public Service Gas Company where he worked for 30+ years until his retirement in 1997. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Stanley. Frank was also a member of the Stanley Masonic Lodge #713. He loved to play golf any chance he could get.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bobbie Sipe Gardner; two children, Cindy Gardner Crunk (Tim) and Chuck Gardner (Kristie); six grandchildren, Ashley Crunk Cousins (Caleb), Jonathan Crunk, Philip Gardner, Andrew Gardner, Anna Gardner, and Frankie Gardner.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Stanley First Baptist Church on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11:00 am with the visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Private interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to American Diabetes Association.
