Brenda (Bell) Cloninger

Brenda (Bell) Cloninger, 72, of Stanley, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday December 6, 2022. Waiting for her in heaven was her husband, Larry. Brenda was a devout Christian and a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Stanley. She was a simple person motivated by her Christian faith. She loved her family and especially her granddaughters. Brenda loved to make desserts even though she could not eat too much of them. She battled Type I, Juvenile Diabetes, her whole life. She was a “brittle” diabetic and had many medical problems, but she pushed through and made every movement of her life matter. Her family will remember her banana pudding, her cherry cheesecake and her chocolate cakes. Brenda worked many crossword puzzle and she used to crochet, sew and knit before the diabetes reduced her vision. Family, friends and neighbors are all grieving Brenda’s passing.

Her husband, Larry Cloninger, her parents, Nettie D. (Morgan) Bell and Thomas Edward Bell, Sr. and her sister, Dorothy Davis, all preceded Brenda in death.

Brenda leaves behind her son, Shane Cloninger, his wife Stephanie Cloninger, and her granddaughters, Summer Cloninger and Samantha Cloninger all of Rock Hill, SC. Missing Brenda are her sister, Wanda Martin (Mt. Holly), and her brother, Sonny Bell (Stanley).

A service celebrating Brenda’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Carothers Funeral Home, 412 S. Main Street, Stanley. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Pastor David R. Livingston, of Trinity Full Gospel Church in Stanley, will officiate and offer words of encouragement and hope to family and friends that gather to remember Brenda. Burial will immediately follow the services at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.
